A Sideshow Tramps-News on the March match-up is a no-doubt, sure-fire, worth-every-penny bill. News on the March is a group of local up-and-comers who continue to impress crowds with spot-on barbershop quartet vocals. These are backed by a countrified rock sound that pays homage to past cowboys and cowgirls rather than exploit them for pop points. Read: It’s not cheesy alt-country.
The Sideshow Tramps are a musical establishment on Houston’s night scene and always deliver a raucous blend of bluegrass, vaudeville, folk, rock and blues. (And if you’ve been to a past show, you might have seen News on the March members – some of the Tramps’ biggest fans – in full sing-along mode.) Don’t be surprised if you see these bands in some onstage collaborations today when the feet starts stompin’ at 10 p.m. Dan Electro’s Guitar Bar, 1024 East 24th Street. For information, call 713-862-8707 or visit www.danelectrosguitarbar.com. $10.
