Target Free First Sunday

December has arrived, and with it, lots of can't-wait-for-Christmas kids with ants in their pants. To keep them amused (for the afternoon, at least), head over to the Target Free First Sunday at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston for some hands-on family fun in an action-packed afternoon called Tell Me a Story. The schedule includes activities inspired by Jacob Lawrence's painting The Brown Angel, with families telling their own stories with art instead of words. The Tales from Africa event involves story time in a gallery, with the reader connecting the story to the surrounding art. There will be a series of animated shorts based on Caldecott Award-winning picture books Strega Nona and Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, along with writing and sketching activities, and guided mini-tours. 1 to 5 p.m. 1001 Bissonnet. For information, call 713-639-7300 or visit www.mfah.org. Free.
Sun., Dec. 6, 1-5 p.m., 2009
