The
Texas Contemporary Art Fair returns to the George R. Brown Convention Center for this year’s highly anticipated show. The Texas-centered art event will host works from all over the state, representing strong Texan themes, complimented by other work from contributing artists nationwide. Among the world-class presentations, there will be a showcase of a solo piece by 2014 MFAH Core Fellow artist Rodrigo Valenzuela, presented by Portland’s Upfor Gallery. Also on display will be assorted works from Rice University Art Gallery, an annual contributor for the past three years and usual crowd favorite. Among the many tours and receptions set to accompany the show are rare looks at some of Houston’s most important and exclusive private art collections. There’s even a sunset visit to James Turrell’s Skyspace at Rice University.
There’s a VIP preview at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. 1001 Avenida de las Americas. For information, call 212‑518‑6912 or visit txcontemporary.com. $25 to $100.
