Texas Crawfish and Music Festival

No matter what your musical tastes, there’s a good chance the Texas Crawfish and Music Festival will satisfy them. This annual event features three stages of music all day for two weekends in a row.

Today’s lineup includes hip, folksy rock band The Panderers, whose sound echoes singer Scott Wynn’s coal-country upbringing, complete with an upright bass. As the day cools off, check out Brian Jack & the Zydeco Gamblers. Jack’s smooth voice singing ditties about women and love over catchy accordion will make you get up to dance.

If you prefer chilling to dancing, walk over to the Crawfish Stage and see the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, a New Orleans jam band that’s not afraid to touch on hot-button issues like war and poverty. Other acts on today’s lineup include Brooklyn indie artist Mike Doughty, Houston rock band The Studemont Project, Austin pop group Honeybrowne, a tiny blond country singer from Austin with a big voice, Pauline Reese, and more.

Oh yeah, and there’ll also be crawfish. Noon to midnight Saturdays; noon to 6 p.m. Sundays; and 6 p.m. to midnight Fridays. Through April 27. Historic Old Town Spring. For tickets, information and a full music schedule, call 800-653-8696 or visit www.texascrawfishfestival.com.
Fridays, 6 p.m.-midnight; Saturdays, noon-midnight; Sundays, 12-6 p.m. Starts: April 18. Continues through April 27, 2008
