The Accordion Kings and Queens

You’ll find a little bit of zydeco, a little bit of Tejano, some swing and a whole lot of polka at the 19th annual Accordion Kings and Queens concert. Step Rideau & the Zydeco Outlaws, who neatly mix their zydeco with blues and rap, and La Tropa F, the Grammy-nominated multiplatinum Tejano artists, are co--headliners for the show. (La Tropa F now boasts the third generation of the Farias family to perform with the group.)

Another squeezebox-led group performing is the Knights of Dixie Orchestra big band, a group that’s entertained Houstonians for more than 47 years. Last year’s winner of the 2008 Big Squeeze contest, Juan Longoria Jr. and three of the finalists for this year’s competition, including Houston’s own 16-year-old John Ramirez, open the show. 7 p.m. Miller Outdoor Theatre, 100 Concert Drive, Hermann Park.
