Clear Lake has spent much of the year recovering from the flooding, pollution and structural devastation brought by Hurricane Ike. But there's one event that Mother Nature couldn't mess with: The Annual Christmas Boat Lane Parade on Clear Lake, which kicked off 48 years ago with just five boats. "After Hurricane Ike last year, many thought the parade would not happen," said the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce's Shari Sweeney. But thanks to proactive residents and officials, up to 150 sail and power boats loaded with lights, signs, music and celebrating people will set off from Nassau Bay en route to League City, Clear Lake Shores, Seabrook, the Kemah Boardwalk and Galveston Bay. Last year's winners included a sailboat lighted to look like a Christmas tree and a dog-themed boat decked out with stuffed animals. Pick out your favorite entry beginning at 6 p.m. Various locations, including South Shore Harbour Marina, 2551 South Shore, League City.
