The Art Guys Silver Jubilee Tribute Album Concert and Variety Show Extravaganza

The Art Guys are such an ingrained part of Houston that their illuminated suitcases are the first thing to greet international visitors in the airport’s baggage claim area. Sometimes silly, sometimes serious, but always at the forefront of the local scene, the performance/visual-art duo have been together since 1983, a 25-year stretch that makes most marriages pale. The guys’ (that is, Michael Galbreth and Jack Massing’s) silver anniversary will be celebrated by the masses this weekend at The Art Guys Silver Jubilee Tribute Album Concert and Variety Show Extravaganza, which highlights their many collaborations with musicians and other artists. A whole slew of performers, whose music comprises a special Art Guys Tribute CD, will perform, including “nuclear polka” band Brave Combo, local string ensemble Two Star Symphony, Ralph Carney, Ken Little and Deborah Moore. Party with the local luminaries starting at 7 p.m. Discovery Green, 1500 McKinney. For information, call 713-400-7336 or visit Free.
