The Houston Fine Mineral Show

“Talk rocks” with the experts and dealers at the Houston Fine Mineral Show. Unlike other gem and trade shows, Houston Fine Mineral has a museum-like setting. It’s in a hotel, yes, but as organizer Dave Waisman tells us, “Every room is like a museum. Each hotel room on the first two floors of the Embassy Suites [has been turned] into a little…museum, but unlike [other] museums [you’ve] been to, you can buy whatever you see in these museums.”

With more than 50 dealers set to be in attendance, we asked about new faces at the show. “It is our sixth annual show, and we have many of the same great dealers, but we do have a few new dealers worth mentioning,” he told us. “Valere Berlage is new and from Belgium, although he specializes in minerals from the copper mines of the Congo; Diorita is a new dealer and comes from Spain; and Lapis Valley is a new dealer and comes from Pakistan.”
