The Natural Science Museum's Corpse-Love

From a corpse flower to 3,800 year-old corpses? Starting August 27, the Houston Museum of Natural Science will exhibit a collection of mummies found along the Silk Road in western China. In the above photo is a mummy named "The Beauty of Xiaohe," an infant estimated to have been 8-10 months old at the time of her death. It's a stunning image--note the full cheeks, the eyebrows and eyelashes. Looks like a mysterious, compelling exhibit. But we're starting to think the HMNS is turning into the Museum of 1,000 Corpses.
