The Nightmare Before Christmas

Talk about multitasking. You can skate on the Discovery Green ice rink and watch a movie all at the same time during the Silver Blades on the Silver Screen event today. On screen is Tim Burton’s animation film The Nightmare Before Christmas. In the movie, Jack Skellington lives in Halloweentown. Bored with being the Pumpkin King, Jack wanders into a magic forest and discovers the warm, loving Christmastown. Determined to make Christmastown his own, Jack enlists the help of the other Halloweentown residents. Together they set out to capture Sandy Claws, the leader of Christmastown. Somewhere along the way, Jack takes a sleigh for a terrifying ride, causing mayhem everywhere he lands and eventually gets blown out of the sky. It takes Sandy Claws and all his Christmas magic to help Jack put things right again. Besides some cool stop-action, Nightmare has a moral: Don’t steal someone else’s holiday. 6 p.m. 1500 McKinney.
