The Sound of Music

It’s easy to think that The Sound of Music is all lovely “do-re-mi’s” and happy ditties, but the truth is the film deals with one of the darkest times of the 20th century — the Nazi overthrow of Western Europe. The impending evil makes the innocence of “My Favorite Things” and “16 Going on 17” all the sweeter. 2 p.m. Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, 1001 Bissonnet. KEEP THE HOUSTON PRESS FREE... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.
