The Wild Moccasins

The Wild Moccasins are just getting off the ground, but they’re already sweeping local scenesters off their feet. In only a handful of live shows, the barely-legal quintet has created buzz among indie rock fans thanks to their youthful sound and high-energy performances. Zahira Gutierrez and Cody Swann, a harmonious couple (both vocally and romantically), drive the Moccasins’ jangly, folk-infused pop. The pair, along with lead guitarist Andrew Lee, bassist Nicholas Cody and drummer Andrew Ortiz, work up a sweat all over the stage (Ortiz has been known to stand up on his kit to get the crowd going) and will likely get your sweat glands going, too. The Wild Moccasins play before The Eastern Sea and Earnie Banks today at 8 p.m. Walter’s, 4215 Washington. For information, call 713–862–2513 or visit www.4215washington.com. $5.
