It is a monster that's 20 feet long, weighs 1,000 pounds and will engulf hundreds of shrieking Houston children who were just looking to escape the heat. Great white shark off of Galveston Bay? No, it's The World's Largest Sprinkler at Discovery Green. "We hope it's a fun summer activity," says Kristy Welker of Target, which is bringing the water wonder from Minnesota. "We'll also have a lot of outdoor activities and games for families." And in keeping with Discovery Green's, well, greenness, used water will be recycled, purified and resprinkled, then repurposed to water the entire park not bad news in the midst of a drought. Welker adds that more than 25 people have been involved in the design, fabrication and installation of the mega monolithic monstrosity, which will sit on a raised base 40 feet in diameter. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday through Sunday. 1500 McKinney.
