Annual Halloween Haunted House at the National Museum of Funeral History

Get in to the Halloween spirit all month long at this family-friendly haunted house, where you can explore the town of Dreadford Falls after a local nuclear power plant has melted down. The Annual Haunted House is rated PG-13 and is recommended for children ages 12 and up. Children under 12 are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. Admission to the haunted house if half off when you purchase admission to the museum ($5 for adults, $3 for kids eleven and under). Hours are Monday though Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday noon to 5 p.m.

Haunted Hollywood Trick or Treating at Putt-Putt FunHouse

Putt-Putt FunHouse is hosting a Haunted Hollywood Trick or Treating adventure every weekend in October (Fridays, 5 to 11 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sundays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.). Families can follow the walk of fame around the park to collect candy and fill out the trivia sheet correctly for the chance to win an Xbox One S. The event is free with the purchase of any all-day pass and free for kids under the age of four. For an added spooky treat, the robot-themed laser tag arena will be transformed into “Haunted Zombie Laser Tag.”

Something spooky is on its way to the Children’s Museum of Houston, where a myriad of magic, mystery and monsters have maneuvered their way into the museum for three weeks of Halloween. Kids are welcome to partake in spine-tingling experiments, spirit-lifting activities and slime-filled fun as they meander way through the Museum in search of goblins, goodies and goo. The event culminates with the funky tunes at the spooktacular Halloween Monster Mash Bash on October 31 (open until 8 p.m.).

The Houston Zoo is inviting all little ghouls and goblins to celebrate Halloween with activities that are fun for the entire family. Kids are encouraged to come dressed in their spookiest or prettiest Halloween costume and bring trick-or-treat bags for an afternoon of fun, from sweet candy corners and monster murals to pumpkin patches and a zookeeper’s adventure. The Children's Museum of Houston will host a special Sensory Friendly Day, an opportunity for kids with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and sensory processing differences to explore the Museum. Kids K participants will receive a t-shirt and a trick-or-treat bucket for the candy station at the halfway point on the kids run. The 5K/10K begins at 7:30 a.m., with the Kids Run at 9:15 a.m.

The cult favorite Montrose Pub Crawl is back for its 12th year, hitting ten bars and restaurants between Dunlavy and Montrose on Westheimer from 6 p.m. to midnight. This year’s lineup includes Brasil, Poison Girl, La Grange, Pistolero’s, Boondocks, Stone’s Throw, Catbirds, Present Company, Slick Willie’s, and El Real Tex-Mex, with an awesome after-party at The Burger Joint. As always, there will be no covers and no tickets, plus live DJs spinning all night long and prizes awarded for best outfits at each stop. A portion of the crawl’s drink sales will be donated to the Houston Area Women’s Center.
