Trailer Park: Anthony Hopkins As Alfred Hitchcock in, uh, Hitchcock

That other big biopic of the fall, Hitchcock, debuted its trailer this week, showing actor Anthony Hopkins ably taking on the role of director Alfred Hitchcock as he struggles to make 1960's Psycho.

Hopkins surely inhabits the rotund body of Hitch, but his voice is pure Anthony. I was hoping for a more marbly-mouthed Hitch. But what really looks and sounds great is Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh and Helen Mirren as his wife, Alma Reville. James D'Arcy is on board as Anthony Perkins.

The film is based on Stephen Rebello's book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, which centered on the torrid genesis of the classic slasher flick.

This is director Sacha Gervasi's first narrative film; he previously directed the excellent rock doc Anvil: The Story of Anvil. His next film is a biopic on Hervé Villechaize starring one Peter Dinklage.

You guys remember Gus Van Sant's oddball shot-for-shot remake in 1998? The one where you could hear Vince Vaughn jerk off?

Hitchcock hits theaters Thanksgiving weekend in time for Oscar season.
