Triple Focus

The Jewish Community Center’s Dance Month performance series welcomes companies from around the nation and the world, but today’s Triple Focus concert gives the stage to three prominent local companies: Hope Stone Dance, NobleMotion and HIStory. Each company focuses on diversity, both in dance style and influences.

Hope Stone Dance Artistic Director Jane Weiner says her company will “hot-glue” together two older works as well as premiere a work-in-progress, which she calls “the start of a new journey for me about war, peace and freedom — what makes a country right and a country wrong.” New-to-town NobleMotion crafts dance that is “emotionally daring and honest,” according to its press materials. And HIStory, a hyper-athletic, all-male dance crew, will add breakdancing-infused motion to the mix. 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. Kaplan Theatre, 5601 South Braeswood. For information, call 713-729-3200 or visit www.jcchouston.org. $22.
Sat., Jan. 22, 8 p.m.; Sun., Jan. 23, 3 p.m., 2011
