When Theatre Under the Stars launched its TUTS Underground venture this season it had no way of knowing whether the premise of edgier fare in the smaller 500-seat Zilkha Hall at the Hobby Center had worked.
Based on the reception to Lizzie and the fact that several shows are sold out ahead of time to 50 Shades! The Musical, TUTS can afford to be less cautious and is announcing today the chance to become a season ticket holder for the two remaining shows in this season's lineup: Murder Ballad and Hands on a Hardbody.
Murder Ballad runs April 17 to 27 and Hands on a Hardbody June 12 to 22, ut the season ticket prices are being offered for only the first week of each run. As part of the offer, season ticket holders will be entitled the the best seats and the first chance to renew for the 2014-15 season before the general public, TUTS says.
"Houstonians have embraced TUTS Underground with passion and excitement, and we want to offer our dedicated patrons the ability to lock in the most valuable seats for the remainder of this season as well as get a jumpstart on the best seats for the 2014/15 season," said Bruce Lumpkin, TUTS' Artistic Director. "With TUTS Underground subscriptions, theatre lovers get the chance to reserve the finest seats to some of the freshest musicals in the theatre scene and be the first in line for future seasons."
