Vaud E. Ville’s Shenanigans is perfect for easily distracted audiences, according to director Angelo La Pietra. “It’s short-attention-span theater,” he says. The original, vaudeville-style show features skits and musical numbers, none of which have much to do with each other, all laced together with broad humor. “It’s shtick,” admits La Pietra. In “The Divers,” three men fight over who will take the plunge into a small can of water, and in “Dueling Beggars” two down-on-their-luck Cockney ladies battle it out for the next passerby’s pocket change. The musical numbers include borrowed classics like the 1924 ballad “I’ll See You in My Dreams” and original tunes such as “Willie’s Waltz,” sung by a Dastardly Dan-type character who wishes to woo the girl next door. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
