Around here, it's no big deal to see my co-worker Craig Hlavaty walking around in a Misfits shirt. But when he walks around with a Misfits shirt and a tulle scarf, you know something big is going on.
Yesterday, I got to watch Hlavaty and his Aussie friend Daniel Aaron get ready for National Dance Day, which is July 30. In case you haven't heard, Art Attack is hosting an event that day at 10 a.m. for experienced dancers and novices alike to dance with each other.
We've already posted the official dance instruction video (choreographed by So You Think You Can Dance judge Mary Murphy), but to help less-experienced dancers out, we decided to make an instructional video of our own.
Needless to say, after watching this, you should have no shame about coming out and dancing an easy salsa with us.
Stay tuned for part 2 of our instructional video, which we will post tomorrow. For more information on the event, click here.
Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
