Village of Waltz

Hope Stone Artistic Director Jane Weiner was so inspired by Antonia’s Line, a Dutch film about a woman who takes up with a village of “outcasts and losers because she sees the beauty in them,” she set about choreographing a piece that would capture the same feel, including the way the film deals with time. “There is a circular feeling to the film, and I try to recreate that in the dance,” says Weiner. The result is Village of Waltz, which features original music by Peter Jones, who will be performing live along with soprano Ana Treviño-Godfrey. Today’s world-premiere performance is a culmination of a project that’s been a year in the making. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The Wortham Center, 500 Texas. Fri., Oct. 23, 8 p.m.; Sat., Oct. 24, 8 p.m., 2009
