Apparently the trailer for Darren Aronofsky's new film Black Swan isn't creepy enough ... so the film's marketing team has decided to up the ante.
Imagine the chills we got today when our film account manager Jessica Newbold received a mysterious hand-addressed black envelope from a "Nina Sayers" in Beverly Hills, CA. She opened it to find just two feathers, one white and one black. No letter. No explanation. Before Newbold raced to the ladies' room to wash in fear of anthrax or bird flu, she clearheadedly did a quick Google search. Of course. Nina Sayers is the character played by Natalie Portman in the much-anticipated film, about a ballerina who enters a frightening world while competing for the lead part in Swan Lake. The role requires the ballerina to dance both the white and the black swan, hence the two feathers.
We get some wacky stuff sent to us here at the Press, but this might be the most creative piece of public relations we've seen in recent memory.
