Support the independent voice of Houston and help keep the future of Houston Press free.

Okay, so the Houston Press is about to throw its annual Artopia party at Winter Street Studios at the end of this month -- a celebration of all things arty and the people who are so inclined.

We're offering a special chance to win two VIP tickets. That gets you into a private VIP area (less competition for drinks and a better chance to sit down) as well as the complete run of the evening's events.

Besides the performances and the art on display on Saturday, January 28, we'll present checks and plaques to the 2012 winners of our MasterMind Awards competition and we'd appreciate it if you'd come out to cheer on these folks. Oh and there's food and all sorts of drink as well.

And there's even three fashion shows.

Just access our Houston Press poll site and follow the directions to register for a chance to win the tickets. We'll announce the winners Tuesday, January 24, by end of day.

Keep the Houston Press Free... Since we started the Houston Press, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Houston, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Houston with no paywalls.
