Wonderland to Hit Broadway

Another Houston-developed musical will land upon the Great White Way next year when Wonderland opens at a Nederlander theater April 17, 2011. While it's had a hard time worming its way into critics' hearts, the Alice in Wonderland-inspired musical was a huge hit with audiences. No doubt after the Alley run, which opened in January of this year, the show--with music by Frank Wildhorn (Jekyll & Hyde, The Scarlet Pimpernel)--went away for further development and could arrive in New York looking much different than the Alley incarnation, which is perfectly appropriate for the show's nebulous setting.

In a press release from the Alley, Wildhorn said, "I am at a point in my life where I want to stay in love with the things I fell in love with. The process of creating Wonderland with my extraordinary producers and collaborators has shown me the magic of fun is not just for the young."

The "magic of fun?" Weird. But we're glad Wildhorn is finally finished falling out of love with the things he loves.
