“Working Space” by Hollis Cooper

Artist Hollis Cooper, who now works out of Los Angeles, grew up in Houston. She considered a career in architecture but changed her mind. “I didn’t want to build anything that had to stand up,” she says. Cooper’s installation “Working Space” doesn’t stand up — instead, it’s made up of paint sprawled directly on the walls of the Lawndale Art Center, boasting vivid colors and abstract shapes. 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; noon to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Through March 12. 4912 Main. For information, call 713-528-5858 or visit www.lawndaleartcenter.org. Free.
Mondays-Saturdays. Starts: Dec. 28. Continues through March 12, 2010
