The Houston Family Arts Center brings us a home-grown Houston production of the musical
Les Misérables with a cast of 40.
Les Miz, as it’s known colloquially, chronicles the life of ex-convict Jean Valjean, pursued intensely by Inspector Javert, but includes the touching saga of Fantine and her daughter, Cosette, as well as street warfare heralding the French Revolution. The HFAC production’s director, Adam Delka, says, “
Les Misérables is often directed to chronicle a single character. My vision differs because I believe the story examines the relationships and connections of many lives. Our show takes a raw look at the threads — the relationships — that weave together the fabric that becomes
Les Misérables.”
7:30 Fridays and Saturdays, 3 p.m. Sundays. Through August 3. Houston Family Arts Center, 10760 Grant Road. For information, call 281-685-6374 or visit houstonfac.com. $15 to $23.
