“Pablo Gimenez-Zapiola: Praxis 2”

Pablo Gimenez-Zapiola trained as an architect, not as an artist. His understanding of form and space have served him well in his career as an artist. In his new exhibit, “Pablo Gimenez-Zapiola: Praxis 2,” Gimenez-Zapiola shows video projections and photograph installations from five of his previous series. Meaning in Motion, the first body of work Houston viewers saw, is an elegant, poetic series of images of phrases projected on to moving trains. The trains blur through the still landscape while the words, projected light, seem to become solid. Inner Atmospheres and Outer Atmospheres is a collection of scenes shown through windows. “I'm not interested in being a voyeur,” Gimenez-Zapiola jokes. “Really what I'm looking at is the spaces, what people choose to live with.” Works from Around the Infinite and Transitions complete the exhibit.
