The Museum of Fine Arts Houston will, as of this summer, be the first American space to host a sweeping retrospective of German-born shutterbug Helmut Newton.

Before Newton's works became synonymous with sexually-charged female portraiture, he and his family struggled (but eventually succeeded) in fleeing Nazi Germany. Newton (1920-2004) would eventually settle in Australia, and later blew up while living and working in Paris and London. His work frequently appeared in European editions of Vogue as well as Harper's Bazaar.

MFAH's "Helmut Newton: White Women, Sleepless Nights, Big Nudes" collects and displays, for the first time, 205 images from Newton's first three published photography books.

MFAH hooked up Art Attack with some sneak-peek images that will be available for public view from July 3 through September 25.
