An occupant called Ben's Beans has applied for a slew of permits at 1302 Dallas, all for a remodel of the old space that once held the Royal Blue Print Co. (And I'm dearly hoping the new occupants will keep the old royal blue sign itself that hangs outside.) Jesse Hooey is the applicant, but efforts to reach him at either the number listed (which belonged to a salon called Adam's New Era but is no longer in service) or at its replacement number failed.
Will downtown have a new coffee shop shortly? I certainly hope so. And although I wish more places were moving into the still sadly underutilized Pavilions, I'm glad to see new growth cropping up in the area.

Add the forthcoming Ben's Beans to the still striking Reserve 101 and its new neighbor -- Dirt Bar, which quietly moved into the old Josephine's space a few months back -- and you've got a pretty great little block within easy walking distance of Discovery Green, the Toyota Center and the Pavilions.
One step at a time, downtown.
