When you're downing a few beers, nothing hits the spot more than something deep-fried, cheesy and salty. Whether huge in flavor or size, here are 5 Monster Bar Snacks that keep us coming back for more.

Viet-Tex-Mex Nachos (or fries) Where to get them: Nobi Public House, 241 East NASA

Also available in french-fry form, this fully loaded plate ($6) comes piled high with freshly fried tortilla chips, Vietnamese-style chargrilled pork, queso, chopped onion, salsa and pickled jalapeños. This is one guilty pleasure that is worth each and every bite.

Stuffed Jalapeños Where to get them: Royal Oak Bar & Grill, 1318 Westheimer

The avocado-sized jalapeño poppers ($6 at happy hour, $7.95 on regular menu) come deep-fried and stuffed to the brim. And they just may be the biggest, spiciest poppers ever to grace the planet (or Montrose, at least). Crack open the golden crisp crust to find hunks of jalapeño oozing with cream cheese and bacon. Each mouthful is creamy, crunchy, salty and HOT. Luckily there's a drizzle of sour cream and tangy mango chutney to cool it down. Oh, and some beer. You'll need that, too.

Four Cheese Bar Pie Where to get it: Lucky's Pub, 801 St. Emanuel

This king of all bar snacks is seriously cheesy. In fact, we're not even sure how the thin-ish crust holds up the healthy slather of sauce and all of the mozzarella, provolone, parmesan and romano cheeses melted on top -- but we're happy it does. Get your pie in a six-, 12- or 16-inch crust depending on whether or not you want to share.

Smoky Brisket Queso Where to get it: Beaver's, 2310 Decatur

This icehouse's queso ($8.50) is basically what dreams are made of -- so if you haven't tried it, down a few fancy cocktails and get to it ASAP. Get it "knocked up" (+$6) so that the ultra-gooey, green chile-laden cheese comes with a pile of oak-and-maple-smoked barbecue brisket plunked right in the center.

Fried Mushrooms Where to get them: Doc's Bar & Grill, 1303 Westheimer

Come hungry and with a crowd if you hope to put even a dent in this Austin import's fried mushrooms...or really any of its bar snacks, for that matter. Offered at just $5 during happy hour, most of the apps are packed with enough tasty, deep-fried bites to feed a small army.
