Thanksgiving plans fall through? Didn't get enough to eat at Aunt Zelda's? Want to grab a bite with your friends in town for the holiday? Simply need to escape the family for a bit?
Then head to the living room of Montrose -- Grand Prize Bar -- tonight, where Joshua Martinez of The Modular will be frying up some turkeys and making other creative Thanksgiving fixings and side dishes "with a twist" all evening long starting at 6 p.m.
It's all part of a week-long fundraiser for OKRA's soon-to-open Charity Bar downtown, with 100 percent of the proceeds from all meals sold going to help finish up construction and renovation on the old bar (which originally housed the Casino Saloon when it was built in 1882).
But tonight's Thanksgiving festivities won't be it for the week. Chefs such as Paul Petronella, Chris Shepherd and Justin Yu have been volunteering their time and food all week long, with more to come on Friday and Saturday.
If you can't make it out to Thanksgiving at Grand Prize today, then consider coming out for dinner tomorrow or Saturday night. Tomorrow, you'll find chef Antoine Ware of The Hay Merchant dishing up some Southern and Cajun favorites.

And on Saturday, it's Stella Sola redux as two of the chefs from the late, great restaurant team up to finish the week with a flourish: Justin Basye (who is currently in R&D with Pappas Restaurants) and Adam Dorris (chef de cuisine and head charcutier at Revival Market) will kick the evening off at 6 p.m.
Just as 100 percent of the profits from these meals will go to fund Charity Bar's opening, so does OKRA plan to pay it forward once the bar opens in early December: All of the proceeds from Charity Saloon will benefit a different Houston-based non-profit organization each month. Guests at the Charity Saloon will be able to vote on which charity is selected as the beneficiary each month every time they purchase a drink.
