Anyone who went to Best Bites at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo this past Sunday night can attest to how much fun these grand tasting event extravaganzas can be. Our very own tasting night is coming up on April 9 at 7 p.m., and plans to be bigger and better than ever.
Last year was our tenth anniversary hosting Menu of Menus®. Held at the massive Silver Street Station in the Sixth Ward, the event drew more than 2,000 guests and featured our very first Iron Fork competition. Hosted by chef Monica Pope, Iron Fork pitted two young chefs against one another in a public, Iron Chef-style competition -- complete with secret ingredients and a time limit to create three dishes.
Chef Kevin Naderi of Roost won last year, with Amanda McGraw (then of Brasserie 19, now at Tiny Boxwood's) coming in a very close second. This year, we'll have a whole new slate of competitors for the Iron Fork event as well as even more restaurants to keep your plate filled all night long.
Starting today, we'll be offering a semi-private presale to loyal Houston Press readers that will allow you to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the public. General admission tickets go on sale February 22 at 10 a.m., but we are offering tickets to readers for $35 as of now. The presale window closes at 9 a.m. on February 22.
