Mixing Up a Hurricane, or How to Best While Away the Hours While the Winds Blow

In preparation for tomorrow’s arrival of Edouard, you might want to stock up with some special supplies, in keeping with the special day. The Hurricane, in all its many variations, is described as a not too sweet drink with a lot of fortitude to it.

Ingredients

• 1 oz vodka • 1/4 oz grenadine syrup • 1 oz gin • 1 oz light rum • 1/2 oz Bacardi® 151 rum • 1 oz amaretto almond liqueur • 1 oz triple sec • grapefruit juice • pineapple juice

Preparation

Pour all but the juices, in order listed, into a hurricane glass three-quarters filled with ice. Fill with equal parts of grapefruit and pineapple juice, and serve.

1 oz dark rum 1 oz light rum 1/2 oz Galliano 2 oz passion fruit syrup 1/2 oz orange juice 1 x splash Rose's lime juice 1 x splash Pineapple juice

Method:

Fill a mixing glass with cracked ice. Add rum, galliano, passion fruit syrup, and orange juice. Shake and strain into highball or collins glass filled with ice cubes. Top with a splash of Rose's lime juice and a splash of pineapple juice.
