The Houston Press Music Awards are now just a recent memory. It was only three weeks ago that Grandfather Child got showered with panties onstage, A dream Asleep reminded us how to spell "Tits," and Chris Wise and Cody Swann got their kiss on in front of the Warehouse Live crowd.
All the winners that won that night took home their trophies, these really sturdy welded metal jobs with guitars on them. The folks that didn't get to make the show mostly came by later to our offices and snagged their swag bag and their trophy.
Everyone except for Bun B, Slim Thug, Chingo Bling, and Devin The Dude.
We know they are all super-busy rappers and couldn't make the awards show. That's cool and we understand. Best Local Twitter Personality Slim Thug was more than likely on tour somewhere tweeting, Best Mainstream Hip-Hop winner Bun B was probably doing promo work for the Trill O.G. album, and we aren't sure where Chingo Bling (Best Latin Hip-Hop) and Devin the Dude (Best Local LP/CD, Suite 420) were.
As it stands now, all four of these awards are sitting on Rocks Off Jr.'s desk near our GG Allin bobbleheads and moustache snow globe. They sure do look nice next to that fetal shark of ours, too.
