According to boththe band's
Web sites, Texas psych-punk terrors the Butthole Surfers have confirmed a Houston show for Thursday, October 23 at Fitzgerald's, with the lineup of vocalist/"Gibbytronix" sound-effects manipulator Gibby Haynes, guitarist Paul Leary, bassist Jeff Pinkus and drummers King Coffy and Teresa Taylor, which hasn't toured since 1989. Expect usual Surfers accoutrements like stock films of penile reconstruction procedures and Haynes pouring lighter fluid into an upside-down cymbal and sacrificing his eyebrows to the fire god.

Dormant since 2002, the Surfers reunited earlier this year for an East Coast tour and are rumored to be working on a new album. At the band's show last month at New York's Webster Hall, Haynes was escorted off the premesis by police after a disagreement with the sound man but was not, as some reports maintained, arrested. Whatever happened, it was hardly the band's first show to inspire the headline "Butthole Surfers concert ends in near riot," and is surely not the last. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door. - Chris Gray
