Priorities: Some people have them.

Not good priorities, but priorities nevertheless. Like the owner of a white Honda sedan, "a black male in his 30s."

Police say he hit a pedestrian in the 3400 block of West Fuqua shortly after 2 a.m. today and drove away.

He drove away not because he was unaware he had hit someone. Of that, he seemed pretty sure.

"A witness told investigators the driver of a white Honda sedan was traveling westbound on West Fuqua when he struck the victim, who was in the road," HPD says. "According to the witness, the driver then continued to the next traffic light where he stopped to check the damage to his vehicle. The driver then fled the scene."

Well, at least his car was driveable. That's the important thing.

The pedestrian, who had been walking in the road, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 41 and his identity has not been released pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the HPD Hit & Run Detail at 713-247-4065.
