We have some great commenters here on Hair Balls, and it's time we paid some damn attention to them.

So we'll be highlighting a Comment of the Day each morning, from the previous day's work. Maybe two comments, even.

This will all be determined by a highly rigorous scientific formula involving wit, clarity and whatever else we feel like at the moment.

We showed you pictures yesterday of the ongoing demolition of Galveston's Flagship Hotel, which is being carefully taken down from its pier to make room for a Kemah Boardwalk-like attraction.

David Beebe weighed in from West Texas on it all.

He wrote:

The Flagship Hotel was once a tourist attraction in itself- I have a Flagship Hotel pennant hanging in the game room of my bar out here in Marfa. It's been a royal dump for so long, though that I barely remember it not looking really seedy. Of course Fertitta gets that piece of property- state budget crisis plus Fertitta's lobbying = over-the-water legal slots in Texas?
