Being a sheriff's deputy can be a difficult job, so it's nice when the crooks give investigators all the help they can.

Take one of the guys who robbed a gas station in the 1700 block of Fry Road March 18.

As the two went inside about 10:30 that night, they made sure their heads -- one covered with a baseball hat and hoodie, the other with a hoodie only-- were pointed down at the floor.

That's no good -- investigators can't see their faces!! How are the robbers ever going to get themselves arrested that way?

Luckily, Hoodie Only was able to think on his feet.

At the 23-second mark we see the guy, just chillaxin' by the door as his buddy apparently finishes up the paperwork on the transaction, maybe gets his frequent-robber card validated for the visit, and then Hoodie Only sees the camera. And looks right into it.

HCSO investigators and Crime Stoppers -- and you can almost hear them giggling as they do it -- gleefully freeze-frame the action on the guy at this point.

And then -- no fool he -- Hoodie Only completely thwarts the entire investigation (in his mind, anyway), by the criminal-genius move of half-assedly rubbing his hand across his face, thus blocking it. (This would be the face that has already been freeze-framed in all its glory by deputies.)

The relevant info, then the video:

The first suspect is described as a black male, between the ages of 20-25 years, standing between 5'-8" and 5'10" tall, weighing approximately 200 to 210 pounds, with brown eyes and a goatee. At the time of the offense the suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, a black and gray ball cap and black shorts.

The second suspect is described as a black male, between the ages of 20-25 years, standing between 6'0" and 6'2" tall, weighing 170 to 180 pounds, with brown eyes and facial hair. At the time of the offense the suspect was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, baseball cap and black shorts.

Anyone with information about the identity of the suspects is asked to contact Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477).
