A teenaged boy was sitting on the steps outside a southwest side apartment last night when a man came up and shot him several times, killing him.

Another boy who had been sitting next to the victim was not shot. The name of the victim has not been released.

The killing happened about 7:50 p.m. last night at an apartment complex in the 6100 block of Bellaire Boulevard, HPD says.

"The suspect is described only as a Hispanic male, dressed in all blue, with a blue bandana over his face," police said. "He fled the scene on foot."

Anyone with information on the shooter's whereabouts or in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
