If you're in a growing fight outside a Galleria-area nightclub, Bad Idea No. 1 would be to pull out a gun and fire shots in the air.
Bad Idea No. 2 would be to ignore the uniformed moonlighting cop who's pointing his pistol at you and telling you to drop your gun.
Bad Idea No. 3, which is really your worst idea of the night, is to then begin to point that gun at the cop.
Visian Prashasouk, 30, came up with this trifecta of bad ideas early this morning outside of Roxy, Houston police say, and now he's facing charges of aggravated assault of a public servant and felon in possession of a firearm. (Oooh, Bad Idea No. 4: Doing all of the above when you're a registered felon.)
Police -- and we only have their version so far -- say the incident began about 2 a.m. this morning as Roxy, at 5351 West Alabama, was closing.
A disturbance began in the parking lot, and HPD Sergeant N. E. Maurer -- a 19-year HPD vet who was in full uniform, working security -- went to break it up. Prashasouk took the above ill-advised actions and Maurer fired once at him and missed as he fled on foot.
He then came back to the parking lot (Bad Idea No. 5!), where a bystander knocked him down and, after he continued to struggle, Maurer tased him (Note: Official HPD language is now "discharged his Conducted Energy Device (CED)") and took him into custody.
The case will be looked into by Internal Affairs.
