Her career has already withstood more train wrecks than Amtrak, and now it looks like Britney Spears is on the upswing one more time. Spears' new single "Womanizer," the lead single from her Circus album (dropping today), which she performed today on Good Morning America (above), is a recent Billboard No. 1 (the ninth of her decade-long career) and set a new record for first-week downloads with 286,000. Personally, Rocks Off hasn't enjoyed a Spears song this much since, hell, at least "Toxic."
Spears was on the ABC morning show to announce her "The Circus Starring Britney Spears 2009 Tour," a mouthful of a jaunt that kicks off March 3 and pulls into Toyota Center March 30, with special guests the Pussycat Dolls and hopefully at least one lion tamer. She certainly makes a more fetching ringmaster than this guy.
Tickets go on sale Saturday; see Spears' Web site for information. - Chris Gray
