In a move long telegraphed but never consummated, Notsuoh owner Jim Pirtle has reportedly made good on his threats to sell the venerable downtown hipster haunt, but not to a greedy developer looking to build luxury housing or some chic mandatory dress-code bar. Rocks Off has learned that Tom Wilson, owner of the three Scout Bar locations currently serving Clear Lake, Beaumont and San Antonio, made Pirtle an unspecified offer on the property this past weekend. The paperwork is not finalized, but a source at Scout Bar Beaumont claims it's all but done. The amount, he added, was near "ungodly" - apparently Pirtle played hardball this time around, with winning results. The Beaumont source said that as soon as the ink on the contracts is dry, Wilson plans to shut down Notsuoh for a complete overhaul, which should put the venue out of commission for most of the summer. At the latest, the renovations would have to be completed by late July to host the after-party for "Crue Fest 2," which hits the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion August 7. The Hunger has been tapped to be the first band to perform at the newly-christened "Scout Bar Main" during its grand-opening throwdown set for August 1. Wilson has contracted the same people who built Mosaic and Rocbar above Verizon Wireless Theater to reconstruct the guts of Notsuoh, the source said. The new venue will include a massive sound system, space for roof parties and a "champagne room" for private functions. This is not the only space being eyed by Scout Bar brass, he added, mentioning possible venues on the Washington corridor and lower Westheimer. Balls Deep and Muhammad Ali are on the bill this Friday at Notsuoh. No word on an exact when the keys will be changing hands. The normally active blog on Notsuoh's MySpace profile remained oddly mum on the sale Wednesday.
