Summer is crunch time at BARC, which just took in a remarkable 180 dogs on Tuesday alone, and fosters and adopters are desperately needed.
That's the bad news. The good news — for both you and the critters — is that BARC has amazing offsite adoption events through July 2, with fees as low as $5, courtesy of the good folks at Proler Southwest/Sims Metal Management.
As a municipal shelter, BARC is responsible for tens of thousands of animals annually, meaning the staff generally operates in emergency mode no matter what, but capacity tends to spike in the spring and summer. Which means there's no better time to bring home a furry friend for some valuable sitting-on-the-couch-with-the-a/c-on-full-blast time, while one or both of you stuff your face with potato chips from a tube. (Maybe that's just us, but you get the idea.)
If you can't handle a permanent pup, BARC's foster coordinators can help you temporarily house a dog, and, as always, donations are welcome. (You can search online for a dog who seems like a good match; or, if you're one of those people, you can check out the cats as well.)
So take a gander online, or drop by in person — you're bound to find a furry little dude or dudette who will make this summer extra-special.
