Popular wine bar The Corkscrew in the Greater Heights announced on Facebook that it is closed today “due to an immediate issue regarding the location/extension of current lease.”

It’s a sad development for the wine bar and piano lounge that was a Houston Press pick for Best Wine Bar in 2013 and was recently cited as one of the 10 Best Bars For A Weeknight. Even more depressing is the fact that the bar's fans won’t even get a chance to say good-bye in person.

It sounds like the owners are pretty devastated over this new development themselves. Their most recent Facebook post reads, “We will not be open tonight as we will be drunk and crying!”

We don’t blame them a bit.
