Harris County prosecutors have charged a 23-year-old woman with abusing her infant son after deputies were shown videos depicting the abuse, the Harris County Sheriff's Department said.
Janelle Peterkin faces a single charge of endangering a child, a felony. Deputies said videos in possession of one of Peterkin's relatives showed the woman placing a plastic bag over the infant's head and tying it. Police arrested her last Thursday.
In an interview with police, Peterkin said she made the videos about three months ago to "show her ex-boyfriend and father of her child he did not care enough about their baby." Police said she also put the plastic bag in the boy's mouth as he was crying.
