Houston artist Carolyn Hancock stretches the boundaries of the pastel medium and brings a fresh look to contemporary realism in portraiture.
Classic poses and unique portrayals: Behind the Eyes of Iconic Women is inspired by the spirit of legendary women, offering an unexpected glimpse into women in the arts, from Coco Chanel to Hollywood’s blond bombshell Jean Harlow. With vintage costumes and raw emotions, model Karen Borne reinterprets the lives of women whose beauty and talent brought them fame, but whose courage brought them into our lives. The paintings by Hancock and their stories join the renaissance of portraiture, while presenting a visual story of remembered women who succeeded. Exhibit continues to November 24.
