The Carya String Quartet (Eugeniu Cheremoush and Laura Cividino, violins, Rainey Weber, viola, and Ed Harper, cello) will pop up at Honey Art Cafe (3516 South Shepherd Dr, Houston, TX 77098) on Friday, August 17th at 8:00pm. This free concert will preview some of the music the Carya Quartet will be performing during their inaugural season of community concerts in the Greater Houston Area and provide an opportunity for Houstonians to learn about their educational programs, all while enjoying the in-house desserts and beverages crafted at Honey Art Cafe. “We are particularly excited about collaborating with Honey Art Cafe because they make art attractive and accessible for the community,” says violinist Eugeniu Cheremoush. Honey Art Cafe offers art supplies for rent to their customers and a variety of art classes. A calendar of their classes can be found www.houstonartlessons.com. The performance will include music by University of Houston Professor Rob Smith and Argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla. More information at www.caryaquartet.org and www.honeyartcafe.com. Founded in the spring of 2018, the Carya String Quartet is a Houston-based ensemble dedicated to performing string quartet repertoire new and old with the mission of fostering community through engaging chamber music experiences. The members- Eugeniu Cheremoush, Laura Cividino, Ed Harper, and Rainey Weber- hail from Moldova, Italy, England, and the United States, respectively, and they bring their individual experiences as performers and teaching artists to create inclusive concerts and innovative educational programming. Outside of the Carya Quartet, Mr. Cheremoush, Ms. Cividino, Mr. Harper, and Ms. Weber can be seen performing with the Terra Nostra Ensemble, Da Camera, Mercury, Bach Society Houston, Austin Baroque, Texas New Music Ensemble, Music for the Forgotten Project, and the Houston New Arts Movement. Individual bios and full performance schedule can be found at www.caryaquartet.org.
