Celebrate Earth Day at Memorial Park! We'll be set up at Picnic Area #1 in Picnic Loop (the first Picnic Area as you come into Picnic Loop) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a variety of things going on! Parking available in the ballfields lot and in Picnic Loop. Any time between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Plant and take home your own native wildflower - meet members of our Conservation team, learn about the soil in the park, plant your own wildflower in a container, and take it home! Pick up supplies to go plogging. What is plogging, you ask? Picking up Litter while Jogging! Grab a bag and gloves and take them with you as you go out anywhere into the Park to pick up litter you might spot on the trails. Thank you to The Buzz Magazines for partnering with us on this effort! 10 a.m.: Memorial Park 101: Kids Edition! Children ages 8-12 are invited to explore Memorial Park’s wooded hiking trails for an hour-long guided scavenger hunt hike with Memorial Park Conservancy staff. Please make sure to wear appropriate hiking attire. Parents are encouraged to attend the hike with their child. Noon: Join MPC staff for an hour-long hike on the Southside wilderness trails to learn about how we reuse and recycle in the Park with our BioCycle program. Please wear appropriate hiking attire.
