Promotional Event Description

Emancipation Park Audio Tour

Take the audio guide to Emancipation Park to learn the history, culture and legacy of Houston's African American community. Walk in the park's beautifully landscaped grounds and experience its thoughtful architecture and state-of-the-art recreation facilities in person or virtually.

The GPS-led audio tour will guide visitors to the monuments of the founders, formerly enslaved community leaders from the Third and Fourth Ward of Houston, who united residents and civic organizations to commemorate the anniversary of their emancipation, known as Juneteenth, by building a park of their own. Visitors can stream the tour by downloading the free Geotourist app on their mobile devices.
