Nicole Longnecker Gallery announces the exhibit, “Elsewhere:Everywhere,” curated in collaboration with print artist Cathie Kayser featuring four artists from the Middle East and Asia. The exhibit opens Saturday, May 18, 2019 with an artists’ reception from 5 to 8 p.m. and runs through June 22, 2019. As part of PrintHouston 2019, Nicole Longnecker and Cathie Kayser, a local artist and founding member of PrintMatters, have organized Elsewhere:Everywhere, an exhibition that welcomes four new artists to the gallery: Pantea Karimi (Iran/California), Rhonda Khalifeh (Syria/New York), Qinza Najm (Pakistan/New York), and Nazar Yahya (Houston/Iraq). The artists will exhibit prints, print installations, and paintings influenced by their varied biographies, adding their unique voices to the chorus of contemporary American artists. “This exhibit is something Cathie Kayser and I have wanted to do for a long time,” says gallerist Nicole Longnecker. “Our four artists, although from completely different points-of-view, cultures, and artistic processes, come together to create a narrative uniquely told from an immigrant’s perspective.” [Organizer's description]
