The John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science will host live cooking demonstrations to teach Houstonians how to prepare healthy and delicious Thanksgiving Day meals and dishes on a budget. The “Thanksgiving on a Dime” series will be held on three Free Family Thursdays in November – 11/01, 11/08 and 11/15.
There will also be a fun activity for children of all ages during these dates called “The Anatomy of a Pumpkin” where kids will be able to dissect their own pumpkin to learn about the makeup of this festive favorite.
In addition, attendees also can check out The Health Museum’s newest exhibition, Body as a Work of Art: More Than Skin Deep. The exhibition explores the dichotomy of inner and outer beauty through a series of thought-provoking and interactive collections curated by The Health Museum. Visitors will be able to share their experiences discovering the new exhibition using the hashtag #MoreThanSkinDeep.
These events are included with the regular price of admission at The Health Museum, which is $8 for children 3 to 12 years old and seniors 65 and above; $10 for adults; and free on Free Family Thursdays from 2-7 p.m. Active and retired personnel receive half-off admission for up to four people.
